In 2014 my husband and I were lucky enough to holiday there, I was super excited as it was my first time and my hubby Louis was excited to show me all of his favorite places, as he had been before. If you know Louis then you would know how talented he is at cooking Thai food, if you don’t then you need to eat his food!
Thailand is such a special place, the culture, the people and let’s not forget the food, especially the street food. For me the most impressive was the street food in Chiang Mai, WOW.

One of my all-time favorites is Som Tum, a beautiful spicy green papaya salad mixed and pounded with chilies, tomatoes, long beans and dried shrimp. I just can’t get enough of it! There are many different varieties which can also include fermented crab.

The beautiful medicinal curries and soups are plentiful while walking around the markets, the aromas while wondering past will turn you into a salivating, photo taking monster.

You can see and taste the fresh ingredients they use, and know that what you’re about to eat is real wholesome food.
Another winner in Chiang Mai was this Khao Soi Gai, made with a mixture of moist aromatics and dry spices a paste is created and then cooked adding a beautiful coconut broth, fresh egg noodles, chicken and topped with fried noodles. A side of lime wedges, pickled Chinese mustard root, and sliced shallots can be added to taste. I miss this dish and sadly haven’t had the pleasure of eating a dish similar since!

I can’t wait until I can return to this wonderful place I really love the hustle and bustle of Thailand. I hope you enjoy the pictures, and I hope you are inspired to visit or try to incorporate delicious Thai dishes into your diet. The different variety of herbs and spices used in Thai cooking are full of vitamins and minerals that aid in good health, so get creative and see what kinds of Thai ingredients your fresh food markets have to offer!
